Illustrations, paintings and other forms of physical art help express creativity and transform a small thought into a captivating visuals.
Look…..Don’t Touch
I created this collection of paintings to showcase African American hair textures and how they come in all different shapes and forms. These paintings are made using acrylic paint on canvas with different 3D elements glued to the canvas. My goal was for the viewer to not only be drawn visually by the use of bright vibrant colors, but also physically tempted to touch each 3D element. This is not an interactive display and the viewer is not allowed to touch the artwork. I wanted to create visual pieces that represent the human desire to touch a person of color’s hair simply because it is different, but also emphasize the importance of personal space between the viewer and the works as we should with human interaction.
